Good anvils can also be made with a cast iron body with a tool steel face; Fisher and Norris made them for many years and they are good anvils. To me, this is good since I find a loud anvil annoying. Cast iron/tool steel anvils were also made under the name "Vulcan", and Arm & Hammer, but they are not nearly the quality of the Fishers. Note: there is also an "Arm & Hammer" anvil that is forged worught iron with tool steel face that is oneof the better anvils ever made. If it doesn't, the anvil is no good, regardless of type or brand.
